What affects the budget?
Preparation and hidden defects, material specifications, equipment, removal and reinstatement, location and programme all matter. Length alone does not describe the work.
There is no reliable universal price per metre for a refit. Condition, access, materials and the extent of renewal can change the cost substantially.
Discuss your project ↗Preparation and hidden defects, material specifications, equipment, removal and reinstatement, location and programme all matter. Length alone does not describe the work.
Ask for inclusions, exclusions, materials, responsibilities, assumptions and payment conditions. Discuss how additional work and timing changes will be approved.
Vessel type and length, location, photographs, a prioritised work list and the intended completion date help start the assessment. Final pricing may require inspection.
Compare assessment and preparation, disassembly and reinstallation, materials and equipment, labour, access and logistics, and inspection and handover. Ask separately whether taxes, haul-out and waiting costs are included. Equal totals do not necessarily mean equal scopes.
Request a written change record for work outside the initial scope: the finding, proposed solution, price, schedule impact and approval. Rather than assuming a universal allowance for hidden damage, discuss uncertainties and how they will be assessed during quotation.
Share your priorities and intended schedule.
